A Guide to Nutrition and Exercisenutrition-counseling

It is a wonderful time to be a nutrition professional. Never before have so many people been so visibly interested in nutrition. Its no wonder, as our fast food diet and lack of exercise will cause significant problems to our body, digestive system, and physical and mental health.

Where do I start?

  • AIM FOR FITNESS: Aim for a healthy weight. Be physically active each day.
  • BUILD A HEALTHY BASE: Understand your body type and needs based on your health, activity level and lifestyle. Choose a diet that is low glycemic, rich in healthy proteins and fats and balanced with grains, fresh fruits and vegetables.
  • CHOOSE SENSIBLY: Choose  foods that are fresh, locally grown and organic when ever possible. Avoid processed foods, sodas, and high glycemic foods. Avoid foods high in saturated fats and processed fats. Drink at least 64 ounces of purified water daily. Reduce sugar and alcohol in your diet.

Ok, Now what?

So we know we need to eat right and exercise right, but what should I eat? how much? and where do I find essential vitamins and nutritional supplements?
Well, the answer is in you. Meaning; its individual. Each one of use has a different bio rhythm, blood type, fat count and cholesterol level (to name a few). And we need to consult a Naturopath or Nutritionist to understand how to approach a proper diet and supplement plan.
