Throughout my 37 years in practice, my priority is to provide the personalized care that each of us both deserves and needs on our path to better health. We are a family friendly office that recognizes that better health comes through a balance of physical, mental, and emotional health. As your practitioner, I will strive to meet the need for that balance through the best use of modern technology with the personalized service that lets you know we care about the whole picture.
Treating the individual. Each patient will present with a set of symptoms similar but not necessarily the same as the next person.
Treating the whole person. This means taking into consideration the influence of genetics, acquired health issues in combination with the present mental, physical and emotional state.
Starting with the basics. This means creating a solid dietary and nutritional foundation from which the body can establish balance and then improved health.
Establishing healthy habits, which are congruent with the individual’s present health, lifestyle, and abilities.
Chiropractic Care: Acute and preventive treatment using gentle non-invasive chiropractic techniques.
Why Chiropractic works: Chiropractic addresses the spine, nervous system, joints and muscle attachments of the body. The brain extends down through the spine and peripheral nerves via the spinal column. All information leaving the brain and returning to the brain travels through the spinal cord; it is in fact like a major freeway for the body. If through injury, accident, stress or illness the relationship of the vertebrae are disrupted the signals to and from the brain are slowed or deterred resulting in a change or loss of function somewhere in the body. Maintaining a healthy spine even if you have not had an injury is pro-actively averting functional changes from the eyes to digestion.
Homeopathic Care: Acute and Constitutional Cases
Homeopathy is a 200-year-old art and science that uses minute pharmaceutically prepared “medicines” to address health issues from poison oak to anxiety. The “medicines” or remedies as homeopaths call them are made from natural substances and are safe, non-habit forming and can be used by children and the elderly as well as individuals using western medicine and drug therapy.
Functional medicine addresses the underlying causes of disease, using a systems-oriented approach and engaging both patient and practitioner in a therapeutic partnership. It is an evolution in the practice of medicine that better addresses the healthcare needs of the 21st century. By shifting the traditional disease-centered focus of medical practice to a more patient-centered approach, functional medicine addresses the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms.
Functional medicine practitioners spend time with their patients, listening to their histories and looking at the interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health and complex, chronic disease.
Practitioners employ the use of laboratory findings, western diagnostics and a blend of western, traditional and alternative approaches to the health in treatment. In this way, functional medicine supports the unique expression of health and vitality for each individual.
Traditional and Alternative Laboratory testing
Sometimes in searching beyond the traditional medical practices to discover the cause of a disease, it is necessary to order tests not offered by national laboratories. We use CLIA approved, federally inspected labs across the country to provide detailed information on genetic variability, hormone evaluation profiles, stool studies, energy profiles of the Mitochondria and much more. These detailed tests show us where in the biochemistry the problems may be stemming from. These detailed labs are often covered by most insurance to a large degree. When they are not covered, we discuss with the patient as to the absolute need for the information balanced against cost. These special labs come in kits given to the patient here at the clinic. Most of the time the patient takes the kit home, follow the collection directions and has Fed Ex pick it up for processing at the lab. The findings are then sent to the doctor so he can go over what the results mean with you.
